Glenglassaugh Expands Core Range with New 15-Year-Old Expression

Glenglassaugh Distillery, nestled along the Highland coastline and renowned for its distinctive sea-influenced character, has expanded its core range with a new age-statement release. Joining Portsoy, Sandend, and the flagship 12-Year-Old, the new Glenglassaugh 15 Years Old represents a compelling step forward in showcasing how the distillery's spirit evolves with extended maturation. Following its refreshed brand identity and core portfolio launch in 2023, Glenglassaugh aims to offer single malt enthusiasts who have experienced the 12-Year-Old a natural progression into a deeper level of complexity.

The Influence of Pedro Ximénez & Spanish Wine Casks

Master Blender Rachel Barrie noted that the inspiration for this release came from the serene atmosphere of Sandend Bay, where the distillery sits, as the sun sets over the North Sea.

Examining the cask profile in detail: Glenglassaugh’s signature fruity and subtly coastal, saline character has been layered using a combination of Pedro Ximénez (PX) Sherry casks and Spanish red wine casks. The lush, dark fruit sweetness contributed by the PX wood balances gracefully with the gentle tannic structure from the wine casks, creating a rich and harmonious profile anchored by that distinct coastal DNA.

Bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered, the key tasting notes for Glenglassaugh 15 Years Old feature dates, orange, papaya, dark chocolate, salted caramel, honey, and subtle hints of roasted coffee.

Global Rollout & Market Availability

Debuting exclusively in the UK via The Whisky Exchange at a recommended retail price of £85, the expression will gradually roll out to global markets over the coming months. It is scheduled to launch in North America by late July, followed by select European markets in August, and the Asia-Pacific region starting in September.

While Brown-Forman’s announcement to temporarily pause production at Glenglassaugh in the second half of 2025 initially raised concerns among brand enthusiasts, this new 15-Year-Old bottling serves as a reassuring signal of the distillery's enduring stock strength and long-term vision.
