The GlenAllachie Sinteis Part II

The second release in The GlenAllachie’s Sinteis series, The GlenAllachie Sinteis Part II, has been matured in rare virgin Scottish oak and Oloroso sherry casks. Distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2025 with a 9-year age statement, this expression is non-chill filtered, free of added color, and bottled at cask strength with an ABV of 58.2%. Named Sinteis, meaning “synthesis” in Scottish Gaelic, the series reflects The GlenAllachie’s exploration of harmony across different casks. The first release, launched in April 2025, featured Chinquapin virgin oak and Pedro Ximénez casks, while the second release stands out with the intriguing influence of Scottish oak.

Nose Rich notes of dried apricot, honey, caramel, and demerara syrup are joined by cinnamon, biscuit, milky coffee, and old books. Full-bodied and deeply aromatic.
Palate Flavors of smoked honey, cinnamon, and red fruits are layered with ginger, black pepper, clove, and toasted oak. Sweet, mouth-coating, and satisfyingly rich in texture. The alcohol is present but well-integrated with the flavors.
Finish Long and warming, with lingering notes of ginger and caramel.
Overall: The GlenAllachie Sinteis Part II is a full-bodied and impressively complex whisky. Despite its 9-year age statement, it reveals intriguing rancio notes more typical of whiskies over 30 years old — a pleasant surprise. The layered nose and rich palate make it a well-balanced and captivating expression from start to finish.
